Ever since I was about 4 years old, I have been watching horror movies. My parents did not really shelter me from movies due to their ratings and whatnot. I remember being about 5 years old and watching Childs Play with my dad and wondering..why are these tiny ginger dolls supposed to be scary? As I grew older, I enjoyed horror movies and Halloween related stuff even more. When Halloween H20 came out in theaters in 1998 I was ten. My dad took me and a few friends to go see it. We loved it, but I wanted to know the back story on it. That night me and Dad rented the original Halloween by John Carpenter. It was amazing. I still love it to this day and it never gets old. We continued with the 2nd, 3rd and so on. It really is a great series of movies (besides the 3rd one).The Rob Zombie remakes are good too , but not as good as the originals. The Halloween movies really got me into horror. I started watching the Nightmare on Elm Street movies soon after and loved them too. As well as Friday the 13th. Man, they really knew how to make good horror movies back in the 80s. Nowadays, its hard to come by a good horror film. You have your Saw's and remakes of the classics, but nothing that really stands the test of time like Halloween and that pack of movies. Twilight is good, but lets face it, they wouldn't know horror if it smacked them in their sparkly face. This past weekend, I did see a pretty good horror movie for this day and age. I saw the movie Let Me In starring Chloe Moretz and Richard Jenkins and Kodi-Smitt McPhee. This movie is another vampire movie, but it is NOT like Twilight at all. Be prepared for some gore and horror right at the get go in this movie. I will not spoil this movie for anyone, but I will tell you, as a genuine horror genre fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this film. So as Halloween approaches, instead of seeing Saw 15, try Let Me In. You won't be disappointed. I am also interested in how the new Wes Craven movie , My Soul to Take, will be. It is his first 3D film. I have always loved his work.
