Freedom of speech is supposed to be one of our rights stated in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution. Yet everyday it seems we hear about someone getting fired or punished for their talk on radio, TV, twitter, and other media outlets. I believe in freedom of speech, but I do also believe people need to be prepared for the backlash of their words. I do not think it should get people fired though. For the most part. Case in point, this week Juan Williams stated on the O'Reilly Factor that Muslims make him nervous in airports. The man was just stating his personal view. and it was not even on his NPR show, yet NPR fired him for his remarks on ANOTHER whole show. Pretty dumb to me. I happen to agree with Juan on this topic and anyone who doesn't may need to get their head examined or get the hell out of your liberal fantasy land. It is a fact that Muslim terrorists attacked us on 9/11. Therefore, yeah I think people have the right to say they are scared of them. I am not saying that EVERY Muslim is a terrorist, but every terrorist is a Muslim. It is truly sad how people turn a blind eye to the truth and just go firing people for stating it. This also reminds me of " The View'' episode last week where, ironically, Bill O'Reilly was the guest in the hot seat. He stated that Muslims attacked us on 9/11........and Whoopi and Joy left the set. What ignorant women. They do not even deserve a show. Their show is the laughing stock of the TV world anyway. They cannot even face facts.. they run from them in fear they may offend some Muslims. Big Effing Whoop! They deserve to be offended. They attacked our US soil and they do not regret it. They deserve much more than just a little offense.
My point is, freedom of speech seems to be a dying right, as sad as that is. and it sucks that the people who tell the truth and state facts get the boot for it. It has happened many times in the past, and this will not be the last time it does. But hopefully some people will wake up and smell the coffee..or at least the terrorism..
