Hey all. This is my first blog post since back in like middle school online journal days , so bear with me :)
Today was a great day in college football for the SEC and beyond. Started out with my most hated team (Auburn) having an easy win against LA Monroe.. was there any doubt? Then Ole Miss slipped past Kentucky with a W. Mississippi State pounded Alcorn State (who the hell plays them?). Next up was a dramatic win by LSU against the Vols...due to an error by TN with 13 men on the field. Neither team looked too promising. Finally, the game of the night IMO, # 1 ranked Alabama vs. # 7 ranked Florida. Both teams came into this game with a 4-0 record this season and big wins in the past week. This game was supposed to be reminicent of last Decemeber's SEC Championship battle where Bama came out victorious, but this game was anything but close. Alabama came out rolling ( so to speak) right at the beginning. After the first quarter this game was so far from a "close game" that everyone thought it would be. This made me very happy. Alabama stomped the Gators in a 31-6 impressive win. After this game, no one can say Alabama does not deserve to be number 1. Teams like Boise State, Oregon, TCU, OSU...sure they are all winning and doing well.. but those teams do NOT have schedules like the ones in the SEC and like Alabama. I believe that we will see Alabama play for the SEC title once again this year and lord willing, for their 14th National Championship. This is a very talented football team and its time the country stopped making up excuses for our wins.
FACTS:
-Alabama has won 17 consecutive games at Bryant-Denny, dating back to the 2008 home opener against Tulane. It’s the fourth-longest streak in school history.
-Florida has not scored a touchdown in Tuscaloosa since the year 2000.
-5 of the last 7 opponents against Alabama were ranked in the Top 20. Tide beat them all.
Now, just waiting til next weekend against South Carolina. It will be another test, but lets hope Tide comes out best..
