Its Thursday!! Almost time for another great weekend of college football. This week holds some big games in store for us. Alabama vs South Carolina, Georgia vs Tennessee, LSU vs Florida, Auburn vs Kentucky, FL State vs Miami, Michigan, vs Michigan State, and more. This week is another road test for # 1 ranked Alabama. South Carolina is ranked # 19, but they have shown strength and much improvement this year as opposed to years before. Spurrier seems to finally have built a good team and they are eager to prove that to the nation. Alabama is looking to hold onto their national title and regain the title this year. We have done it before, and I believe its very possible for us to do it again. We do have one of the hardest schedules in college football and that is one of the reasons I believe teams like Boises State and Oregon and TCU will not surpass our # 1 ranking. There is some talk this week about how every opponent Alabama faces from here on out will have has a "bye" week the week before playing us. Nick Saban tried to fix this schedule anomaly, but nothing could be done. He has stated that he is not too worried about those teams with a Bye week because it has not been proven that a Bye week equals a WIN .
Nick Saban stated this at a recent press conference,
"We did research on the last five years of all other 11 teams in the SEC and how they did when they had a bye week, and their record is 29-29. I’m not saying I’m right and you’re wrong, but the statistics kind of prove that it’s not an advantage..."This week will definately separate some teams from the pack and prove once again who deserved those top spots in the coveted Top 25 poll.
My winner predicition for October 9, 2010:
AL vs SC = AL
AU vs Kentucky=AU (i wish not, but Kentucky isnt too great)
Mich vs Mich State=Michigan
TN vs GA= TN
LSU vs FL=FL
